The links on this page cover SPHS football from the Fall of 1955 through the Fall of 1965. Presently the links contain no newspaper articles, just scores. Information for these links come from recollections I have as a young boy attending games with my Dad, from the SPHS Yearbook (SA-TA-PA), the Fayetteville Observer and the Robesonian. One additional valuable resourse is Jim West of Max Preps. He provided me with a lot of missing scores.

I think the first year SPHS fielded a football team was in the Fall of 1951. From 1951 through 1954, SPHS played 6-man football. I recall attending a few of the 6-man games, but recall hardly any details. I do remember my back door neighbor Herbie Owens was on the team, as well as Kenneth Alford, and maybe Albert Margolis. Also Pug Hall played 6-man football his Freshman year ('54), and then played 11-man football his three remaining years at SPHS.

The 1957 team, coached by Walter Ragan, produced the most successful football team the Bulldogs experienced during the 1950's. After the 1957 season, St. Pauls did not have another winning season until the 1966 team, which finished the regular season as "Conference Champions" with a 9-1 record.
